On 27th February 2025, the School of Management at RK University (Main Campus) organized a Book Talk under its "Books & Beyond" Club, featuring the book “The $100 Start-up” by Chris Guillebeau.
"The $100 Startup" by Chris Guillebeau is a guide for aspiring entrepreneurs, advocating that one can build a successful business with minimal investment, often starting with just $100, by focusing on finding their passion, creating real value for customers, and utilizing a "side hustle" approach to build a business that fits their lifestyle, rather than requiring large upfront capital or complex infrastructure; it features real-life stories of individuals who have built thriving businesses with minimal resources, emphasizing the importance of starting small, testing ideas quickly, and adapting based on market feedback.
During the session, Vikashkumar Prajapati (BBA semester 6) and Ayushkumar Prajapati (BBA semester 4) shared their insightful reviews and key takeaways from the book. They presented their learnings through a well-structured PowerPoint presentation, covering topics such as the significance of reading the book, real-life entrepreneurial success stories, the $100 Start-up model, key lessons from the author, common fears among entrepreneurs and how to overcome them, as well as the value of learning from failures.
The session was attended by 50 enthusiastic students who gained valuable insights into start-up challenges and innovative business ideas. Student coordinators efficiently managed the event, ensuring its smooth execution.
Dr. Bhumika Tanna, the event coordinator, appreciated the students' efforts and further elaborated on key start-up concepts with real-world examples. She emphasized crucial aspects to consider when launching a start-up, such as quality, efforts, strategic direction, and persistence.
The Book Talk proved to be an enriching experience, fostering entrepreneurial thinking among students and encouraging them to explore innovative business opportunities.
