Depositories operations : A perspective of Indian equities

School of Management, RK University Main Campus Organized an expert session for the students of MBA on 6th September 2024. The topic of this session was Depositories operations : A perspective of Indian equities. Almost 150 students were part of this session. The expert of this session was Mr. Himanshu Khatri - Manager, CDSL - Gujarat region. He began by first introducing the only two registered depositories of India – NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited) and CDSL (Central Depository Services Ltd.). He gave an overview of a depository functions like, a depository allows traders and investors to hold securities in dematerialized form; thus, eliminating the risk related to holding physical financial securities etc. He explained how depositories play an important role in maintaining the financial assets of people and how they enable a smooth transfer of stocks and securities form people to people. Afterwards he asked students how much in a month on an average they save and whether they invest this money or not. If they do invest which kind of financial products they prefer and why. He gave a brief overview of different financial instruments like Stocks, SIP, Fixed Deposits etc. Overall, the students enjoyed the session thoroughly and were thankful to Mr. Himanshu and faculties for the same.
